And so it seems only in dreams

I dreamt of you last night and it broke my heart. I was with a friend and walked into a party and you were there, my mouth dropped. I turned to my friend and asked what to do and she sat in silence. I wanted to scream but nothing came out.

I avoided you but it did not work, you came over anyway. You asked why? I had no response I still could not speak, it was all in my head. You turned away from me and words finally came out. STOP! you turned and came running back. All I wanted to do was hug you, kiss you, feel you. We sat for hours and talked. I told you I was sorry and you cried. We caught up on our lives and just how great things were going (or how horribly). I just wanted to tell you I was lonely and wished I had you back. You sat in silence and I watched as you wiped the tears from your eyes. All I wanted to do was lean over and wipe them off for you. It felt as if we were in a time warp. I never wanted it to end.

All of a sudden we were in my beetle driving to work as we had done before and I was smiling I could not help it. Things were back to normal. It all felt so real. I knew every detail I could tell you what everyone was wearing and the expressions on peoples faces. In the end we were back at the party and everyone smiled as we walked in.

My alarm went off at 6:30am this morning. I wanted to cry because that meant it was all a dream.

Macaroni

Yankee Doodle went to town
A-riding on a pony
Stuck a feather in his cap
And called it macaroni.
Yankee Doodle, keep it up
Yankee Doodle dandy
Mind the music and the step
And with the girls be handy.

Well I do not know about most but I have always wondered what the heck macaroni means in the yankee doodle song. Well today I have the answer! Macaroni was a slang term in the 18th Century (Rococo). Young men in France had went to Italy and were very amused by the dish macaroni and thought it was very delightful. Well these young men were the "hipsters" of today (sad that is what I have to compare it to)  and came back started using macaroni as cool. They were ones who started all the fashion trends and new slang in France. So anytime something was badass or you were stoked on anything they woud say " Thats macaroni" So as with anything slang travels. When Yankee Doodle put that feather in his hat he made it macaroni.

My Heart

From the first time I went there I just knew I belonged in San Francisco. San Francisco just calls to me at times. It is a place where I know it doesn't matter how outlandish my outfit is or how crazy my headbands are, I just fit in. In the city you have everything at your fingertips. I know LA also does but somehow for me it just does not compare.

I remember wandering around in little Italy late one night and seeing Jack Kerouac street and just smiling to myself, thinking only in San Francisco. Or visiting my favorite pub Lefty O'Douls and having the piano man sing with patrons sitting around him singing Billy Joel's piano man. It is truly only something you imagine in movies.

Don't even get me started on the amazing houses. To live in the city in a house like Stephanie Tanner would be the ultimate.

Grad School in SF is looking like a must at this point

It is true what Tony Bennett says:

I left my heart in San Francisco
High on a hill it calls to me
To be where cable cars climb half way to the stars
The morning fog may chill the air but I don't care
My love waits there in San Francisco
